Sometimes you just need to take a break to regroup

I logged into my website today and realized I haven’t done a blog post since November 17. Some of you may have noticed and for others, you may not have missed my weekly emails amongst the hundreds of emails that cram your inbox every month. I logged in today thinking I was going to be writing a blog post for you with advice for communication, or leadership, or customer service, but I realized what I really need to do is to continue to take time and regroup.

On November 20, my husband of 32 years died of COVID. I know that many of you who have lost a spouse, child, or other close family member know all the things that occur, the details that have to be attended to, and the emotion that such a situation brings. For weeks while our whole family was sick with COVID, I kept pushing on with my “normal” activities as much as possible. Many people didn’t know what we were struggling with. However, I now realize that things are not normal right now and it’s okay to admit that and to take a break to regroup- which is what I’m going to do. Therefore, I’m taking a hiatus from the Performance Communication Blog for now. I hope to bring it back in early 2021 better than ever and with the focused goal of providing content that helps you learn and grow as a person, team member, and leader.

Take good care of yourselves and your loved ones and I wish everyone a Happy Holiday Season.
